The Creative Muggle Reading Challenge 2026
Last year, I started to notice something. I was finishing books, but I was not really feeling them. I was moving from one story to the next too quickly. I wanted to read more, but I also wanted to enjoy it more. Maybe it’s also because I am a book blogger, I want to read more books. Books have always been my safe place. So I decided to change the way I read.
That is how The Slow and Intentional Reading Challenge was born.
Why I Created the Slow and Intentional Reading Challenge

I wanted a reading year that feels calm. No pressure. No rush. Just one good book at a time. This challenge is about choosing books with care and giving each one space in your life.
Twelve books in one year. One book each month. That feels gentle and doable. It gives you time to enjoy the story, think about it, and even talk about it with others.
What Makes This Challenge Special

Each month has one simple prompt. These prompts help you pick books you may not choose on your own. They help you explore new places, new voices, and new types of stories. At the same time, they keep the reading slow and meaningful.
You also get pages to color, write, and reflect. It becomes a little reading ritual, not just a list to finish. I also want to create a challenge to encourage people to read more and get back into reading or struggle to find a good book.
Now let me explain in detail what are the 12 reading prompts are.
Reading Challenge Prompts

A Book Set in One Day or One Weekend
I love books that happen in a short time. Everything feels close and intense. You get to live inside one moment and feel every small detail.
A Book Where Weather Matters
Rain, snow, heat, or storms can change the whole mood of a story. This prompt helps you notice how nature becomes part of the book.
A Book Set Before 1990 but Written Recently
This is for that old time feeling with a fresh voice. You get history, but the writing still feels modern and easy to read.
A Book with a Main Character Over 50
I love reading about people who have lived, learned, and grown. These stories often feel warm, and honest.
A Book Set in a Place You Know Little About
This is like traveling through books. You get to see the world through another culture and another way of life.
A Book That Starts in the Middle of the Story
You do not start at the beginning. You start in the middle of something big, and that makes you want to keep reading.
A Book by an Author from Another Country
New voices always teach us something. This prompt helps you read outside your comfort zone.
A Memoir by a Woman Over 40
I feel these stories are full of life, change, and truth. They often feel very real and very strong.
A Book with No Romance
To be honest not every story needs a love story. This prompt helps you enjoy books about friendship, family or even a mystery.
A Book with a Green Cover and White Text
This one is just for fun. It is perfect for photos and for adding a little beauty to your bookshelf and your reading journal.
A Book Set Outside the US, UK, or Western Europe
This is another way to read globally. This will also help you discover new places and stories.
A Book with About 351 Pages
Not too short. Not too long. Just right for a slow month. It can be anywhere between 345-360 pages as well.
The Coloring Pages and Reading Journal

Inside the free PDF, you will find a page where you color one book each time you finish. You also get a simple book review page. You can write the title, your thoughts, your rating, and how the book made you feel. This helps you remember your reading year in a personal way.
There is also a bingo style page that reminds you to slow down and enjoy the process.
