Must-Read Reese Witherspoon Book Club Picks

Tom Lake by Ann Patchett

Tom Lake we follow Lara who shares stories of her past romance with a famous actor while her three daughters listen, all set against the backdrop of their family orchard during the pandemic. The best part about the novel was the themes of love and motherhood. Patchett creates a powerful exploration of what it means to reflect on choices and see how they ripple through generations.I listened to the audio version of the book, narrated by the legendary Meryl Streep. I highly recommend it, it’s one of the best narrated books.

Yellowface by R.F. Kuang

Yellowface is a sharp, darkly funny story about June, an author who steals a manuscript from her deceased friend and passes it off as her own, claiming an Asian identity that isn’t hers. What I loved most is how the book confronts the ugly truths of racism, privilege, and the pressures of social media.

The Guest List by Lucy Foley

Set on a remote Irish island, The Guest List is a murder mystery where a wedding celebration turns deadly. Each character has secrets, and the tension builds until someone ends up dead. The atmospheric setting combined with Foley’s ability to slowly unravel each character’s motivations is what made this a standout for me. It felt like a modern Agatha Christie with lots of twists. It’s definitely one of the best thrillers with shocking twists.

Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens

Where the Crawdads Sing is about Kya, the “Marsh Girl,” who lives in isolation in the North Carolina marshlands and becomes a suspect when a local man is found dead. I adored this book for its vivid descriptions of nature and its mix of mystery and coming-of-age. Owens captures Kya’s resilience and vulnerability in such a raw, emotional way that I couldn’t help but feel connected to her story.

In The Last Mrs. Parrish, Amber inserts herself into the life of a wealthy couple, hoping to take over their seemingly perfect world.
